“Greyhills Academy High: Where we perceive every child as our very own.” School motto
Welcome to Greyhills Academy High School

Welcome to the Greyhills Academy High School website. We are a grant school under the direction and management of the Bureau of Indian Education. You’ll find us located on the beautiful Navajo Indian Reservation in Tuba City, Arizona. We are approximately one hour north of Flagstaff and 50 miles east of the Grand Canyon. We educate over 340 students in 9th through 12th grades. We are passionately committed to the preservation of the Navajo culture and use that as a foundation for teaching the academics.

A Message From Our Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Recently, you received your child’s third quarter grades and attendance verification. I encourage you to take the time to review both of these with your child. Improving academic performance for each student and making steady academic progress towards high school graduation is our shared goal.

As we move into a new phase of academic perspective of college and career readiness, we understand that our aim is to have every GAHS graduate ready for college or a career. Therefore, academic performance and daily attendance are critical.

Third quarter grades are considered to be progress grades, and students who have good attendance have every opportunity to improve their grades within the remaining last quarter grading period of the school year. Students who have more than nine absences within a course period are not eligible to receive a passing grade.

We offer daily academic tutoring, enrichment activities, and Saturday schools to all students who require or request additional support with homework, class work, and AIMS preparation. The school has hired certified teachers to work as afterschool tutors from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the library and in the math department. Saturday schools are on selected dates each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Tutoring support helps students build necessary skills, complete key assignments, and receive additional monitoring and support.

Students may request help with specific subject areas such as math, science, humanities, and Navajo or with general study skills such as homework management and organization. Please encourage your child to take advantage of these extra educational opportunities.

As always, we appreciate your support and partnership in your child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me at (928) 283-6271 ext. 120 or email me.

Most Sincerely,

Marie Morales
